As Australia’s first established Ballet Company – founded by Madame Kira Bousloff of Ballet Russes in 1952 – and Western Australia’s leading dance organisation, West Australian Ballet (WAB) has presented excellence and innovation in classical and contemporary dance to local, regional, national and international audiences for more than 65 years.
WAB boasts a full time professional troupe of dancers and presents a diverse repertoire of full length ballets and modern repertoire. The Company currently runs four major main stage seasons in Perth as well as an annual in-house experimental choreographic season at the Company’s state-of-the-art ballet centre in Maylands (pictured below). WAB has developed an increasingly impressive reputation for innovation and versatility. WAB’s Guest Artistic Director, David McAllister,AC has worked now with the Company and is credited with radically improving and diversifying the Company’s artistic product. In the last five years, WAB has more than tripled the number of short works presented by emerging choreographers, with more than twice the number of works presented by the Company in general.
