Un Paso Más was founded by former star Tropicana Club dancer, choreographer, actress, and teacher Yuly Rodriguez Verdecia in 2008 as an outgrowth of an independent Havana community development project. What began as a cultural and educational initiative for neighborhood children and adolescents now includes young professional dance troupes sharing the blazing and joyous artistry of Cuban and Caribbean culture. Mambo, rumba, bolero, son, danzón, cha cha, and contemporary dance, they do it all!
With brilliant choreography, eye-dazzling costumes, and irresistible music by Cuba’s most beloved artists, this program will inspire audiences to kick up their heels and dance in the streets. Even Camilla Parker-Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall, was not immune to their charms: upon seeing their performances last spring in Havana she not only invited them to England but wanted to take dance lessons with them as well!
